Hi dear co-bloggers,i am meeting you after a long time with a different post on the theme horoscopes and people’s beliefs in it.
usually in any custom after the baby is born, after the completion of his/her 1 year people predict their future by writing horoscopes based on their time and place of birth.this is usually done by astrologers who know the movement or position of stars at the time of birth.
ok.coming to the point of believing horoscopes, some people blindly believe in horoscopes and forgets to think practically.whatever the horoscopes show hey blindly believe(especially in deciding marriages).apart from looking at the boy/girl’s education, job, character, family background etc.,people first see whether the horoscopes match. people speak of other matters even before seeing the boy/girl.
One exciting fact is that opinions differ between two astrologers especially if they come from the same family as well. It also goes further in deciding a boy/girl ‘s career irrespective of their own interest in studies. A boy/girl might be interested in some stream to be taken as their career. But since the horoscope say that they would shine in life only if they take up some other stream. So the parents who believe in all these force their children to take up education according to horoscope and astrologers’ which might be against the boy/girl’s own interest.
It is really surprising that people would be eager to know which baby is inside a pregnant woman’s womb from their astrologer by looking at the “would be parents’ horoscope“. The problem arises only if it goes otherwise.
Coming to the conclusion, I am not against astrology/horoscope; but it very much depends on the heights of belief one has in them. In certain cases, it is not advisable to rely much on horoscope especially in chosing a career or chosing a match. (which very much depends on the matching of two hearts). Even today I see some parents hanging around with their son/daughter’s horoscope in a long queue to meet their astrologers where they spend lavishly to him wasting time and money as well.
Instead, we could spend some time with our children, speak to them on their idea of chosing a career or chosing a match for them, etc. which would prove really beneficial rather than believing what the stars say or astrologers/horoscope say.
An Amazing Open Day
Hi friends, this is again me with a new topic after a very long time.i know some of you might be surprised on seeing the topic given above.now let me speak in detail.my son had ‘OPEN-DAY’ in his school ‘PADMA SESHADRI BALA BHAVAN’.also the school closed for summer vacation.
I had been to attend open-day with my husband.my son was busy introducing us to his friends while we waited for some time to to speak to his class-teacher as she was busy distributing progress report to other parent.
Meanwhile i just looked around his classroom.as any kindergarten class would display, his classroom also displayed’charts’,pictures’ showing rhymes,traffic-signals,parts of the body,my school etc.
Suddenly when i saw the black-board i was really taken aback.yes here i should truly mention his teacher and her creative thoughts.
My son aditya’s teacher Mrs. Subhashini had drawn the faces of all the 35 students of her class with each and every student’s identity. Just by seeing the picture one could make out their kid’s picture.
Really I was surprised and when inquired with his teacher, she informed me that she has been doing this for the last 4 years. In addition, she also gifted all her students with a ‘rooster doll’ made of match box and distributed chocolates to each and every child.
This might be a very small matter, but I really liked it and that is why I started to write a post immediately. I think these are the some of the positive ways and means through which a child can be made happy and further develop the child.
Kudos to the innovative and creative teacher Mrs. Subhashini and then to the school, Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan which encourages its teachers to implement their optimistic ideas and thoughts.
Until my next post………. this is Jai signing off…..
Maa, A story please?
Hello co-bloggers. After a pretty long time, I have come up with a new post on the topic, Stories and Tales. I know many people would shrink their brows on seeing the topic. Some might also say it sounds funny or silly. But let me continue with what I have to say.

Some 25 or so years back, people lived in joint families with at least 6 members in it, not including grand parents. These grandparents, in the process of teach moral values and customs, thereby developing a sense of fascination in the minds of young ones. They used to narrate umpteen number of stories and short tales from great epics and the like. Children while eating or during bed-time,listen to these stories with great enthusiasm and curiosity. Also, when they listen to such stories intently, they tend to forget themselves to such an extent that they will not even know how much they eat. Some of the benefits of story-telling are:
- Children learn the importance of moral values.
- They come to know the culture and customs which were followed by their ancestors.
- Children are able to visualize the characters of the story in their minds.
- Concentration is brought in the kids’ minds.
- Also, children are able to express their thoughts effectively.
- Response and reciprocation can be improved by questioning them in between.
In today’s scenario where both the parents are working and the subsequent emergence of nuclear families, children are sent to play-homes, creches and babysitters’ even at their infantile ages. There, the same activity of story narration is done. But children feel more comfortable when they listen to these stories from their grandparents. And in many case, a caretaker or nanny is appointed to take care of the children as the parents are +away at their workplaces.
Since these caretakers do not speak to children properly, these children are not able to speak even at the age of 2 or 3. Ultimately, the parents seek the help of speech therapists, spend money lavishly to make children speak; which were not required in olden days. When students are asked to read or study history, they would feel really bored. But when the same is intepreted in the form of stories, they listen attentively.
I coclude by suggesting parents to spend some valuable time with their children by narrating stories to them on birds, animals, etc. and thereby getting the children familiar with the environment. The best time suited to tell stories is the bed-time, when the child’s mind and body would rest peacefully after being active the entire day.
Let us strive together to develop precious young children into good citizens with moral values, by spending some of our time with them.
watching soaps is it?

hi friends,
this is my first post.i know you all might shrink your brows to read the theme i have chosen.since long i had an idea of writing on this theme.ok.let me speak in detail.earlier, not very early to barter system days, some 20 years back we did not have these variety of tv channels with many soaps the so called mega serials.speaking on the mega serials there stands a single line theme of a character with 2 wives(sometimes even more than that).also each and every serial depicts woman as the villain.
one more thing is most house wives and retired old people who are supposed to spend their time peacefully with children and grand children, sits idly watching these soaps as their prime duty.moreover they also come up with a wonderful compromise saying they show nothing other than the daily happenings in life(which is totally untrue).
one undigestible fact is old people who r ailing with so many problems like blood pressure, cardiac problems, diabetes etc.,forgets to take medicines and food at the correct time.but they remember very well to watch these serials.even if there is a power cut or something as such they go further to call their friends and relatives to enquire the day’s episode what they missed(they also forget to convey their regards).
even small kids who are at home below 3 years who are just learning to speak say the names of all the which are telecasted in a day.worst situation is when some elders appreciate this as if they r saying some slokas.
i finally end up my post giving suggestion to the people who are suffering from serial fever to spend their time usefully by developing some hobbies like gardening, cooking some varieties, painting, learning some slokas or music or teaching youngones some useful things etc.,rather than watching soaps which provides us “PIECES OF MIND”.
