hi friends,
this is my first post.i know you all might shrink your brows to read the theme i have chosen.since long i had an idea of writing on this theme.ok.let me speak in detail.earlier,not very early to barter system days,some 20 years back we did not have these variety of tv channels with many soaps the so called mega serials.speaking on the mega serials there stands a single line theme of a character with 2 wives(sometimes even more than that).also each and every serial depicts woman as the villain.
one more thing is most house wives and retired old people who are supposed to spend their time peacefully with children and grand children, sits idly watching these soaps as their prime duty.moreover they also come up with a wonderful compromise saying they show nothing other than the daily happenings in life(which is totally untrue).
one undigestible fact is old people who r ailing with so many problems like blood pressure,cardiac problems,diabetes etc.,forgets to take medicines and food at the correct time.but they remember very well to watch these serials.even if there is a power cut or something as such they go further to call their friends and relatives to enquire the day’s episode what they missed(they also forget to convey their regards).
even small kids who are at home below 3 years who are just learning to speak say the names of all the which are telecasted in a day.worst situation is when some elders appreciate this as if they r saying some slokas.
i finally end up my post giving suggestion to the people who are suffering from serial fever to spend their time usefully by developing some hobbies like gardening,cooking some varieties,painting,learning some slokas or music or teaching youngones some useful things etc.,rather than watching soaps which provides us “PIECES OF MIND”.

While I agree with your point, I also would like to re emphasize the fact that people are so dumbstruck in the so called serials that even if a burglary happens they are more involved in the serials..

Use capitals at the start of every sentence, commas at the right places and so on. Also use bold and italics in the appropriate places to make your text speak out by itself.
Coming to the post, you are entirely right in describing the escalating situation of “Serial Fever” (nice term by the way). The person who described the TV as an Idiot box did not say it without proof.

its true. dunno mow many pieces will the mind be split into to accommodate the vast number of “Mega”-serials…

even i used to watch some serials BEFORE..i stopped after i realised tat its nothing but a STUPID thing which upsets one’s mind…i get irritated even if i remember those days…we gals used to discuss bout serials in schools,over the phone n even while chatting..BUT all those have completely stopped now

October 23, 2008 @ 3:31 pmgood post.i too saw this pic in our local news paper..pple watch those meaningless prgrms even when their rooms r totally drenched.huh!remember when chennai had a mild earth quake(before tsunami)some 6 or 7 yrs back?it was 9.30 pm when it ocurred and we cud hear pple say they were reluctant to come out of their house coz “chithi” serial was goin on.God!please educate these people.:-) nice post to start with.once when i turned sun tv on,the title song of a serial by the name “anandham” was shown.the title song ended.the episode no.was displayed.the serial started.the first scene was a dead body lying in the middle of their hall with pple around crying..but the title is anandham.boo!!what is this??i hate watching serials.cheers..:-)
